Shanghai Shenhua FC
After eight seasons in Chelsea, Didier leaves Europe to sign a two and a half year deal with the Shanghai Shenhua FC, where he joins Nicolas Anelka. "I am looking forward to a new challenge and to experiencing a new culture, and I am excited about the new developments in the Chinese Super League", he confesses after signing his contract. Olympic torchbearer in Swindon before the London Olympics, he then flew to China, where he received an incredible reception at the Shanghai airport. And he was impressive in his Chinese Super League debut, setting up his new team?s equaliser in Guangzhou (1-1). Then, he netted his first goal in his third appearance in China, scoring twice against Hangzhou Greentown (5-1), in front of a delighted crowd cheering for the new hero. He scored eight goals in eleven games during his Asian adventure, the last one in his last match against Qingdao Jonoon. And after playing the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Elephants lost in the quarter-finals to the future champions, Nigeria, Didier flew to Turkey to sign with a legendary club: Galatasaray Istanbul.
